He Took Them All For Love

[Aida]

"No," Amneris stated firmly, "they will not be buried alive. Forty strokes with the lash apiece will suffice for this offense"

It was the lightest sentence she was allowed to impose. Pharaoh nodded his approval though you could see in his eyes he was less then pleased. He felt they should be buried alive. Literally six minutes later they found themselves in the courtyard where the lashing was to take place. Aida watched as Radames was tied to the pole so that he could not move while he was lashed. She bit her lip and gave him a reassuring smile, though tears brimmed her eyes.

[Radames]

Radames took a deep breath and gave Aida a reasureing smile.

[Aida]

Aida knew they had no other choice. This was the smallest sentence they could be given for their treason. She bit her lip and watched the first five lashes come down on Radames' back, the small blade on the end slicing him each time.

[Radames]

Radames bit his lip to hold back the cries of pain.

[Aida]

Aida bit her lip as the tears started to flow while she watched three more lashes delivered in succession to her love's tail bone before the next two sliced at each cheek.

[Radames]

Radames closed his eyes tightly as he continued to hold back the cries of pain.

[Aida]

Aida cried more. Her love would have to endure thirty more strikes of the lash. She pleaded with the guard to stop, only making him strike harder on the next five lashes.
